Arts and Crafts at the BeachThere is nothing like going to the beach and hanging out, playing volleyball, throwing a frisbee, running, walking, reading, etc. It seems like there is an endless list of activities one can do on the beach. However, have you ever thought about doing arts and crafts at the beach? If you have children it may be one more activity to add to your repertoire of fun things to do at Pacific Beach. There are lots of craft ideas for kids available on the internet or at local craft stores. They range from bead making to kite flying. Actually, there are so many it would be futile to try to make a list of everything that falls into the arts and crafts category of fun things to do. Of course, you may remember things you did as a kid and not need to research it. You may be able to head to the crafts store and buy some art supplies and get down to work or play right away. Think of all of the reasons you might want to take your supplies to the beach and work on some crafts. You can make gifts for Christmas or birthdays, you can make decorations for the house, you can make little doodads to sell right there on the beach. Tourists will buy just about anything to do with the Pacific Beach. Be careful of the legality of selling though, you might need a license to sell on the beach. None the less, there are numerous reasons to take your crafts to the beach, the biggest reason being fun. Speaking of fun, you can combine your arts and crafts with typical beach activities. Imagine how elaborate you can make sand castles if you bring a little modeling clay with you to the beach. Along with the clay you could bring popsicle sticks and make all types of furniture and fixtures to locate throughout your castle. You could even make little people if you so desired. The type of modeling clay is something to look into before buying due to the variety of clay available. Do you want to create things that will harden and be permanent or do you want to use soft clay and keep reusing it? If you create permanent structures, be sure to take them with you and not leave them for someone to step on with bare feet. If you reuse the modeling clay, try to keep the sand out as much as possible. Other things to take to the beach to keep you busy may include sewing and embroidery, painting and drawing, origami, coloring and many more. With portable tables and chairs available to get above the sand, wouldn't be it fun to work on projects together rather than have the kids play video games alone? Combining active activities like frisbee with some calm ones like arts and crafts makes for a wonderful day for everyone involved. |
