Beach Alcohol Task Force

Councilman to form group to study beach problems.

...San Diego Councilman Kevin Faulconer, who represents beach communities, opposes a ban on alcohol on the sand. ...[He] said he wants to get now-warring community groups at one table for six to nine months to hammer out recommendations. Faulconer expects to name the task force members in the next few weeks.

Pacific Beach not very scary

"Pacific Beach provided a choice location, where as a family we could enjoy the beach, catch a few waves — or at least watch the surfers from the shore — and spend two days with Shamu. This quaint ocean village is far from the tourist mecca often associated with Southern California. The restaurants were low-profile with great home-cooked food. The shopping was geared toward locals, and the beach was quiet. We shared it with some serious surfers, who played with wild dolphins swimming just off the coast."
